Through the window, approximations of the surrounding city: the red blur of tail lights as cars stream ahead, a blue-black smudge on the pavement that might be a shrub or garbage bin or, perhaps, a person cloaked and squatting. A city park further ahead, the concrete flatness of buildings opening out to dark blooms of green and deep shadows. The window mists over again.
